The Big Giant Head is a fictional grapheme from the American sitcom tertiary Rock from the Sunday; he is the Solomons' mission leader and king of the universe.

Function on the show [edit]

He was an unseen character at showtime, and even then very rarely referred to. When Harry expressed that he was upset most not serving any useful purpose in the mission, the family unit revealed to him that he was modified to serve as the transmitter that relayed letters from the Large Behemothic Head, from which point the character then "spoke" through Harry. He patently got his job by "outrunning the fireball". Though the Solomons are subordinate to the Big Giant Head, they sometimes express dissatisfaction with his leadership, with Dick declaring at one point that he only got the job because he "kissed the Big Giant Butt."

When the character did eventually appear on screen, he was portrayed (in human form) by William Shatner, and did very little apart from wreak havoc on the Solomons' lives. He insisted on beingness waited on hand and foot, and frequently interrupted Dick's physics classes, posing as an acquaintance of the Solomons under the pseudonym "Stone Phillips" (Mrs. Dubcek asked him if it was "Like the guy from Dateline", to which "Rock" answered, "No").

He eventually confessed to being Dick's male parent, at which betoken, Harry stated that if Dick was going to have over The Big Giant Head, his proper name would exist Dick Head.[1]

Relationship with Vicki [edit]

Afterward landing on the Earth, Rock (the Big Giant Head) knew very niggling about women. He was very rude towards them,[2] he decided to go on with Tommy to his Junior Prom, where he met Vicki Dubcek, who was trying to hook upward, since she never had her inferior prom.[iii] Vicki was as well trying to go significant with Harry'southward child but they only had a suspension-upwardly. After "Rock" beamed her up to his "available pod" for the nighttime, Vicki declared the next day that she was meaning by him. Stone left immediately, and about 2 hours later Vicki delivered his infant, whom she named Eric Travis ("E.T."). After Rock left, Vicki chosen a news reporter, proverb that she was the mother of a new species. The reporter showed up, but didn't believe her story, because the infant looked similar a normal man.[4] Stone later returned, afterward he decided that he wanted to accept his son back to his dwelling planet but Vicki refused. Rock decided that they had to brand upward with Vicki in society to go a family. Unfortunately Harry nonetheless had feelings for Vicki, and was too trying to win her back. However, at the ending of the episode Harry decided that, since she had a baby with Stone, she was better off condign a family with Stone. Stone told Vicki that he and the Solomons were aliens and the two went off to the galaxy.[v] They returned to World together one concluding fourth dimension, at which point information technology was revealed that Vicki still had feelings for Harry, and idea she made the wrong pick when she left Earth with Stone, because she found their marriage boring.

Miscellaneous [edit]

The Solomons first meet the Large Giant Head in person when he arrived by airplane at their local airdrome, in an evidently agitated state. When asked almost his flight, he responded "Horrifying, at beginning. I looked out the window and ... I saw something on the wing of the plane", to which Dick responded "The same thing happened to me!" This is a double reference. In an early episode, Dick attempts to fly for the first time and is frightened when he sees something on the fly of the aeroplane. Both references are likewise to the Twilight Zone story "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet", which tells of a man on a commercial flying who is convinced he sees a fauna on the airplane's wing which no ane else tin see. Both William Shatner and John Lithgow (Dick) had previously played that Twilight Zone grapheme; Shatner played it in the original 1963 TV serial episode, and Lithgow played information technology in the 1983 movie remake.
